Bush dog

Bush dogs originate from Central and South America. They live in forests and wet savannahs. They are diurnal animals. In the wild, they dig and sleep in a den or in a hollow tree.
Belfast Zoo is home to a pack of five Bush dogs, three males and three females. They are located next to the Tree Tops Café.
IUCN status
The IUCN status of the Bush dog is classified as Near Threatened. In the wild, numbers are rapidly decreasing as settlement progresses and forests are cleared.
