Looking to 'treecycle' your real Christmas trees? Bring your tree to the designated drop-off point at the zoo between Monday 30 December and Thursday 2 January.
We'll use the donated trees for animal enrichment ranging from scent play to shelter and food foraging. The trees provide our animals with a fantastic form of enrichment. Christmas trees are extremely tactile, have a strong scent and have a range of different uses depending on the animal.
The meerkats love exploring and climbing through the branches whereas the Barbary lions enjoy the strong pine scent.
We will recycle any excess Christmas trees which aren’t used by the animals for chipping. We will use the tree chippings in zoo enclosures and as mulch for flower beds.
There is no charge to leave your tree, however we will be accepting donations in the Visitor Centre towards supported conservation projects.
To donate your Christmas tree, go to the designated drop-off point in the main car park on:
- Monday 30 December
- Tuesday 31 December
- Wednesday 1 January
- Thursday 2 January
Christmas tree donations are only open to individuals. We will not accept commercial donations.
