Plans include a new food serving booth, public art, and further external lighting.
A nightclub in Belfast city centre has secured planning approval for a major refurbishment which includes the extension of its first floor.
Thompson's Garage has been a staple of city centre nightlife for the past 30 years and is described as a "bonafide Belfast clubbing institution." Earlier this year, they gave a first look at their revamped nightclub entrance and new layout.
Belfast City Council has now granted approval for planning permission to the team behind the nightclub, Endless Music Ltd, for a major refurbishment of the nightclub. These include plans to extend Thompson's Garage into Upper Arthur Street, with a new first floor space with terrace and balcony with a capacity of 120 people.
The plans for the site read: "Proposed extension to Thompsons Garage to incorporate redevelopment of Nos.51-53 Upper Arthur Street (including part demolition) to provide: ground floor corner entrance to nightclub, toilets, and restaurant/café/street serving booth.
"First floor extension to existing nightclub, incorporating part terrace and first floor balcony over Upper Arthur Street footpath; public art to Upper Arthur Street façade; external lighting; 3No. digital internal window display screens; and all associated site works".
