Grassroots community-led festival, Open Botanic, is back for a third year, creating an inclusive, car-free space in the busy thoroughfare of Botanic Avenue.

The festival brings all the communities of the area together. This year’s themes Playful Streets and Creating Space, aim to showcase the incredible work going on behind the scenes to improve places to play, to move, to breathe and to grow in this area.

Activities include:

  • street performers
  • live music
  • street games
  • crafts
  • children’s entertainment
  • drop-in workshops
  • food from different cultures
  • street dance
  • urban gardening skills
  • wellbeing and mindfulness sessions.

Open Botanic is organised by Forward South Partnership in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast Architecture and Planning Department.

Its main funding partner is T:BUC and Housing for All delivered through Radius, Apex, and Ark Housing Associations, as well as our Festivals’ Fund, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, UK Research and Innovation - Arts and Humanities Research Council, Public Engagement at Queen’s and Ormeau Business Park.

This is a family-friendly inclusive event and activities are free.
