Belfast Stories Public Consultation

How can I let Belfast Stories know what I think?

Being real.

Belfast Stories Public Consultation

This is not the first public consultation on this project.

At the end of 2022 we asked you what you thought about our early plans before any design work started. Since then, we’ve appointed our design teams - and now we want to hear your views on these early concept designs and how we’ve taken on board your previous feedback.

This public consultation will take place for 14 weeks from Tuesday 19 November 2024 until Sunday 23 February 2025.

The aims of this consultation are to:

  • Continue to promote the project, raise awareness and gain buy-in;
  • Make sure that Belfast Stories is for everyone – including completion of an equality impact assessment and a rural needs impact assessment;
  • Gain feedback on current design thinking and plans and for what we hear and learn to inform the next phase of project.

How to share your views and ideas

We have an online consultation hub where you can access further information and complete our short survey.

We will also be facilitating a series of events and activities throughout the consultation. These are open to all however have been designed to ensure that we gather as many different perspectives as possible and some of the specific groups we are hoping to engage with are included below.

Special interest groups

We will host a variety of events for specific groups that have an interest in the progress of Belfast Stories:

Local communities

We want to hear questions and opinions from the people that live adjacent to the Belfast Stories site. We want to talk about how it can add value to and integrate with local communities.

Priority groups

We will consult with the nine equality categories identified by Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act - religious belief, political opinion, racial group, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender, disability and dependency.

Community stakeholders

We will discuss Belfast Stories with as many different community groupings as we can, gathering feedback on the vision as it stands and taking on board suggestions as to how it could be better.

Strategic partners

We will continue to consult regularly with our existing strategic partners and identify new ones.

User groups

We want to test our thinking with groups who may have a particular role to play in gathering, telling and sharing Belfast stories. This includes culture, arts, heritage and creative sectors, as well as tourism and hospitality providers.

General public

We will also provide a range of opportunities for members of the general public to respond to the Belfast Stories proposals in a number of ways, including events and pop-up hubs in different city locations, engagement with creative events such as festivals, and our online consultation hub.
