Woman convicted after dog attack on a child

A Belfast woman has been sentenced at Belfast Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 10 September 2024, following her conviction for an offence involving a dog attack.

Belfast City Council took the prosecution against Louise Hamilton of Pearl Street, Belfast.

The prosecution was taken after reports that Ms Hamilton’s XL Bully type dog had attacked and injured a 14-year-old boy on the arm, at Woodstock Road, Belfast on Monday 20 May 2024.

Ms Hamilton, who pleaded guilty to the offence, received a 4-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months and required to pay a compensation order totalling £250 and a further £135 legal and court costs.
