Local school children today joined the Lord Mayor of Belfast and His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant to plant a special coronation tree in the grounds of City Hall.

Ahmed Hassan Ahmed (11) and Victoria Ekert (11) from Fane Street Primary School helped His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for the County Borough of Belfast, Dame Fionnuala Jay-O’Boyle, and Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Ryan Murphy, to plant a Tilia cordata Greenspire (small leaf lime) tree in the grounds of City Hall.

The tree was gifted to the city of Belfast by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant to mark the occasion of the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla. The tree is located to the rear of the cenotaph at Donegall Square West.
