Spring Safety show returns to Belfast

Date: 03 Mar 2025

PCSP members join NIFRS and PSNI for launch of Spring Safety event outside Belfast City Hall

Belfast residents are being invited to refresh their safety routine as the free Spring Safety event returns to Belfast City Hall on Friday 7 March.

Organised by the Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), the annual roadshow offers one-to-one advice on a range of home and online safety issues. Held in partnership with Belfast City Council, the event is supported by over 30 local organisations including the PSNI and the NI Fire and Rescue Service.

In 2024, Action Fraud reported that almost £19 million was lost to fraud in Northern Ireland. The Spring Safety show aims to tackle the surge in scams by supporting residents with the tips and tools to protect their family and finances. Local technology specialist, Ignite IT will provide free cyber security checks on phones or tablets while the Consumer Council will offer guidance on safer ways to shop and pay. Also in attendance will be the Belfast Health Trust, providing information on local breast screening services and other health checks.

Councillor Davy Douglas, Chair of the East Belfast PCSP welcomed the return of the event: “The Belfast PCSP are pleased to work alongside so many of our partner organisations to deliver an event that offers vital safety information to residents. With fraud and scams on the rise, this event is a practical way for residents to stay informed and protect themselves and their families in their everyday lives. We would encourage everyone to drop-in and avail of this free advice service so we can create a safer community across Belfast.”

The free Spring Safety event will run from 10am to 12.30pm in the Great Hall of Belfast City Hall. It’s a drop-in event with no need to book. Complimentary tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided. Find out more from the Belfast City Council website at https://www.belfastcity.gov.uk/Events/Spring-Safety-event.
