Date: 1 August to 15 September

Venue: 2 Royal Avenue

Category: 2 Royal Avenue

""

A family-friendly exhibition showcasing the remarkable legacy and courageous endeavours of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. It is independent of coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service.

Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, it has:

  • saved over 144,000 lives
  • introduced the first lifeboats on the River Thames
  • rolled out a UK beach lifeguard service
  • run the UK and Ireland’s biggest ever drowning prevention campaigns
  • worked with others to save lives overseas.

The exhibition will launch at Late Night Art on Thursday 1 August.

Come along to 2 Royal Avenue to find out more about the RNLI’s 200-year story.
