Explore the Maritime Mile using tech and innovation, enjoying immersive digital heritage experiences to learn more about the history and the area's local characters and artefacts.

European Hertitage Open Day will be an opportunity to explore the Maritime Mile, trying out a variety of pilot HUB-IN innovation projects as part of the Maritime Mile Heritage Lab.

Ranging from interactive 3D and Virtual Reality rooms, to trails, immersive experiences and augmented reality, the projects will all be bringing historical facts, artefacts and historic figures to life.

They are also all linked to and influenced by key heritage sites along the Maritime Mile including:

  • Titanic Hotel Belfast
  • HMS Caroline
  • PRONI
  • St Joseph’s Church
  • Sinclair Seamen’s Church.

This is a free event and you don't need to book.

These pilot projects have been funded by the HUB-IN Challenge Fund. HUB-IN is an EU-funded project that wants to transform and regenerate Historic Urban Areas while preserving their unique cultural and social identity and the environment. We deliver this project on the Maritime Mile in partnership the Maritime Belfast Trust. The aim is to make the waterfront a vibrant, accessible, heritage destination not only for tourists, but also for current and future generations of locals to enjoy.
