In partnership with ReLondon, we're celebrating Repair Week from Monday 3 to Sunday 9 March 2025.
Repair Week is packed with ideas to help you reduce the amount of waste you throw away by repairing things when they break. Repair has many financial, social and environmental benefits, including:
- reducing demand and use of natural resources
- reducing carbon emissions linked to waste disposal
- reducing amount going to landfill
- increasing the lifespan of belongings
- saving you money and avoiding having to buy new
- bringing people together to share skills and stories of treasured items, for example, at repair cafés
Repair Week events
There will be a range of events across the city during the week.
Textile mending workshop
- Tuesday 4 March, 10am to 3pm
- Ulster University Belfast Campus, York Street, BT15 1ED
- Drop in (no need to book)
Join Ulster University fashion and textile students and staff to learn the importance of textile mending and care.
Free entry, everyone welcome.
Repair workshops and learn to sew
- Tuesday 4 March, 11am to 2pm
- Queen's University Belfast One Elmwood Student Centre
Join Freedom Bikes for a free bike check up. You can also bring clothing and textiles that need to be repaired, with help from volunteers from Carryduff Repair Café.
You can learn how to sew on a button, thread a needle or try your hand on a sewing machine with Make it Fab (from 11am to 1pm).

Revive and Re-wear at St Vincent De Paul charity shop

Vincent’s Belfast, supported by Sue Bamford from Tools for Solidarity, is embracing Repair Week by celebrating sustainability and the power of repair. Customers are encouraged to rethink pre-loved items, while the store sets aside donations in need of a little TLC to showcase the impact of visible mending. From torn garments to missing buttons, this initiative highlights simple ways to extend the life of our belongings and reduce waste.
This is a free event and everyone is welcome.
Mending Pile Meet Up at Belfast Tool Library

Do you have clothes that need a fix – but struggle to find the time, motivation or knowhow to mend them? Join our social Mending Pile Meet Up to transform a chore into a joy with good company, a hot cuppa, some tasty treats and our expert stitchers on hand if you need a little help or advice.

Sign up to our Repair Week chair repair workshop and let our experienced tutors take you through your paces with different methods of fixing furniture breaks.

Bike maintenance session

- Cregagh Youth and Community Centre
Get your bike ready for spring! Bring your bike to Cregagh Community Centre for a safety check, or just come along to learn some basic maintenance skills from East Belfast Mission’s experienced bike mechanics. Attendees will receive a free McConvey Cycles water bottle (conditions apply - one per person, while stocks last).
Entry is free, everyone welcome. You don't need to book.

Dig out those broken items and book a slot with one of the skilled fixer volunteers at this Belfast Repair Week edition of the Repair Café. There is no fee, and donations are welcome. Online booking is essential. Search Repair Café Belfast on social media for more information.
