Thursday 8 May 2025 is the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. Applications are open for our VE Day commemoration grants. This funding scheme provides grants to eligible community-based groups working to deliver community-led activities to mark the anniversary.
Eligibility criteria for VE Day commemoration grants
Our VE Day commemoration grants provide support for the delivery of community-led events and activities which have VE Day as a central theme.
All funded activities must:
- take place between Thursday 8 and Sunday 11 May 2025
- include community involvement in their organisation and delivery
- balance respect for historical tradition while being welcoming and inclusive
- provide opportunities for all generations to participate.

Apply for a VE Day commemoration grant
Grants of up to £750 are available to eligible groups. For an application form and guidance notes, email [email protected].
Closing date for applications
Applications close on Thursday 10 April 2025 at 12 noon.

We are also delivering a programme of VE Day activities as part of this milestone to highlight Belfast's wartime experiences.
