JobStart 50+ Scheme

  • JobStart employment opportunities

The JobStart 50+ Scheme provides funding to help employers create high quality jobs for eligible people aged between 50 and 64 years old. The scheme is funded by the Department for Communities (DfC).

  • How the scheme helps employers

Funding for each JobStart opportunity will pay:

    • the relevant National Living Wage for 25 hours per week
    • the associated employer National Insurance contributions
    • an employer's minimum automatic enrolment pension contributions.
  • Transferring unfilled job opportunities

If an employer participated in JobStart for young people and still has unfilled vacancies, these roles are transferable to JobStart50+. But the employer must be registered for JobStart 50+.

  • Apply as a JobStart 50+ employer

The closing date for employers was Sunday 21 August 2024.

  • How the scheme supports people aged 50 and over

JobStart supports people at risk of long-term unemployment by helping them enter or re-enter employment. To check if you're eligible for JobStart, go to JobStart Scheme (link opens in new window).

If you're eligible for a JobStart role, you must apply by 13 September 2024.

  • Meet the employer

If we run a Meet the employer event before the JobStart scheme closes on 13 September 2024, we'll publish information on this page.
