Andersonstown regeneration

Please note that Andersonstown Leisure Centre is now closed to enable work to start on our new £25 million state-of-the-art centre, due to open in summer 2019. Andersonstown Leisure Centre members can now use the facilities at our other leisure centres in the city at no extra cost.

Unique selling point - family fun

Following community consultation and advice from a range of industry experts, we have taken the decision that the new centre will focus largely on water based family fun.

In addition to extensive family focused wet provision, the new facility will also offer a range of dry facilities such as a state-of-the-art fitness suite and studios.

The agreed facilities are:

  • large family fun focused area of leisure water
  • 25m six lane pool with 50 spectator seats
  • learner pool
  • confidence water for small children and toddlers
  • 140 station fitness suite
  • exercise studios
  • spin studio
  • café
  • multipurpose room
  • range of outdoor provision such as five-a-side pitches.

Further consultation

Having developed initial designs for the new facility, we carried out a community consultation in September 2016. Based on the feedback from this consultation the designs for the new centre were further refined.

As a result of these refinements we carried out a further period of consultation and submitted a planning application for the new centre. Planning permission was granted on Tuesday 15 August. Work is on going on site and the new centre is due to open in late 2019.
