Get involved in our free community gardens and take home the fruits of your labour. A community garden is a shared project where people from all age groups, abilities and backgrounds come together to grow their own fruit, flowers and vegetables.

All levels of experience are welcome. Experience isn’t essential as other community gardeners will be on hand to help. Our staff will also provide training workshops.
Volunteers can spend as little or as much time as they want at their local site, as all three gardens are open daily. When they're not in use the sites will be locked to keep them secure.
We supply all the tools and gardening equipment that you need.
Wear sensible footwear and warm, waterproof clothing during wet weather. It would be useful if you bring a pair of gardening gloves.

Interest in community growing is increasing, due to the benefits for health and wellbeing, as well as its potential to contribute to environmental sustainability and local economic development.
As part of Active Belfast, we’ve developed a Growing Communities Strategy. It aims to ensure there are more opportunities for growing in all its forms, and that all parts of the community are able to experience the benefits.
