Lagan Currachs: 'Get Wet' taster sessions
Date: 19 May 2018 - 20 May 2018
Time: 1pm – 7pm both days
Venue: Stranmillis Mooring Dock, Governor’s Bridge
Come and share the experience of rowing beautiful community built traditional currach with a crew of people of all ages and abilities.
Lagan Currachs will be taking groups of 10 out on the water, leaving from the mooring dock by Governor’s Bridge for a one hour row up to Stranmillis Weir and back, or downriver to Ormeau Bridge and back.
It’s a great way to get a different experience of the River Lagan and see the city of Belfast from a different angle. If you like it, you’re welcome to join the Lagan Currachs's group – they row every Saturday and Monday evening.
The £5 (plus booking fee) for your taster session will be deducted from your annual membership if you decide to join the club. Lagan Currachs don’t want anyone to be excluded on the basis that they can’t afford the fee, so please get in touch with them if you’d like to make an in-kind contribution to the club instead.
It’s open to anyone who can manage to get into the boat and pull an oar. A great activity for all, partially sighted and blind people welcome. Vulnerable adults and children must be accompanied by a responsible adult or carer. It is suitable for children aged 12+. Younger children may be accepted - just talk to us first.
This Lagan Currachs taster event is part of the ‘Get Wet’ national campaign, co-funded by SportNI and Waterways Ireland.
You must join as a temporary member or full member to participate in the taster sessions. Please complete Lagan Currach's membership form.
You can then book your tickets for the taster sessions.
