Records for all births, adoptions, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships are held by the General Register Office (GRO), NISRA, Colby House, Stranmillis Court, Belfast, BT9 5RR.

There are a number of ways you can get a copy of a birth, adoption, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate.

• Call into the General Register Office. There is an extra fee for same day service.
• Phone the General Register Office on 0300 200 7890 or if you are phoning from outside Northern Ireland 028 9151 3101 and pay by credit or debit card.
• Order a copy online from the NI Direct website
