Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic
Belfast hosted the first ever competitive US college basketball tournament outside America on 1 and 2 December 2017 at the SSE Arena.
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic involved four teams:
- Manhattan College
- College of the Holy Cross
- Towson University
- La Salle University.
Basketball Hall of Fame 2017 winners
The winners of the 2017 tournament were Towson University.
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic is presented by the Sport Changes Life (SCL) Foundation and its partner the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
It was held in conjunction with the MAAC, SCL, Rory McIlroy’s foundation – the Rory Foundation – Aer Lingus, Tourism Northern Ireland, Tourism Ireland, Belfast City Council, travel package partner Chaka Travel, Velocity World Wide and The SSE Arena, Belfast.
The event was powered by Darius, Velocity Worldwide’s customer engagement technology to create an experience like no other for the fans attending the unique event.
We are supporting this event and the Friendship Four Ice Hockey tournament as part of its Sister Cities relationship with Boston. This aims to build on economic development, trade, investment, tourism, youth, cultural and academic linkages with the US.
