Community and education
We can help your community group organise a cleanup of your local area.
We'll give you brushes, shovels, litter picks, gloves and bags - all free of charge. They'll be delivered to you in advance and we'll collect them again, along with the rubbish, once the cleanup is complete. You'll need to give us at least one week's notice so we have time to organise the equipment.
It's your responsibility to look after the equipment and make sure that all items are returned at the end of the cleanup. You'll also have to sign a receipt when you receive the items.
To book a cleanup, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 028 9050 0501.
Guidelines for event organisers
If you're organising an event, please read our booklet 'Managing litter and waste - guidelines for event organisers'. It gives you helpful advice on how to control litter before, during and after an event and how we can help you with the cleanup operation.
You can also request a copy of the booklet by calling 028 9050 0501.
We run a range of anti-litter events to help your school or community group reach its environmental goals. They're fun, free and linked to the NI Curriculum.
If you'd like to book one of our free anti-litter workshops, please call us on 028 9032 0202 ext 5377 or email email@example.com.
Nursery and Foundation Stage
We offer a range of short stories to help educate and entertain pupils about litter and the impact it has on the world around them.
Primary (Key stage 1 and 2 )
Our key stage 1 and 2 workshops includes short video clips, games, discussions and competitions. Each session normally lasts 1 hour. The workshops are linked to the Northern Ireland Curriculum.
After the workshop, you'll receive our anti-litter education pack containing lessons plans, resources and a CD, and we can help you organise a community cleanup.
If you'd like to book one of our free anti-litter workshops, please call us on 028 9032 0202 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you would like to arrange an anti-litter workshop for this age group, please contact us on 028 90 500 501 or email email@example.com to discuss.
Captain Cleanup Competition
All primary schools in Belfast are invited to show that they care for their local environment by organising a cleanup of their school playground or local area. All cleanups are to be completed before December 2018 in order to be in with a chance to receive a visit from Belfast’s very own anti-litter Superhero, Captain Cleanup. Captain Cleanup protects Belfast from his archenemy, the evil General Grime and his nasty gang of litter bugs who love to throw their rubbish on the streets.
We can supply everything that’s needed for your cleanup such as litter picks, brushes, shovels, black bags and gloves. For more information or to take part in the challenge email firstname.lastname@example.org
Last year our lucky winners were Seaview Primary School, Hazelwood Integrated Primary, Sacred Heart Primary School, Black Mountain Primary School, Wheatfield Primary School, St Matthews Primary School and St Anne’s Primary School.
Visit our gallery on Flickr.
Schools can continue to organise a cleanup at any time of the year and we can supply everything that’s needed such as litter picks, brushes, shovels, black bags and gloves. For more information email email@example.com.
