Whiterock Community Corridor
As part of the Falls Masterplan we're working to improve the landscape and environment around Whiterock Leisure Centre to provide new facilities, increasing community activity and participation and encouraging people to use services in and around the site.
The corridor will improve accessibility in the area by linking the Whiterock Road to Falls Park through new pathways. We'll also be enhancing the appearance of the area to create a more welcoming and attractive place for people to live and visit.
So far we’ve completed Phase 1 of the projects which developed a new playground, a multi-use games area (MUGA) and a landscaped open space with gardens, seating, footpaths and lighting.
The playground has eight different types of equipment targeting children of all ages and abilities. It covers a 1km catchment area, a walking distance of 15 to 20 minutes, with the potential to benefit up to 2,000 children within the area.
We’ve also completed the planned community gardens and allotments at the site.
Phase 2 - new community buildings on Whiterock Close
Phase 2 aims to improve the derelict perception of Whiterock Close and provide facilities that will benefit the local community and community groups.
We'll engage with stakeholders to decide how to progress this phase further.
