Lord Mayor encourages people to access free exercise app during lockdown

29 Apr 2020

Belfast Lord Mayor Councillor Daniel Baker is encouraging everyone to keep active and healthy during the lockdown by accessing free online exercise classes.

While facilities remain closed, GLL who operate the council’s leisure centres are offering a broad range of virtual exercise classes via the Better UK app, which is free for anyone to download.

Councillor Baker said: “Many people, myself included, miss the routine of visiting our leisure centres to use the gym, take a swim, attend a class, play a sport or take part in some other form of exercise.

“Looking after our physical and mental health is more important than ever now, so I would encourage everyone to download the ‘Better at home’ app to take advantage of the free virtual exercise classes available.

“From energetic full body workouts, abs and HiiT classes, to yoga and meditation sessions, there is something to suit all tastes and abilities at the click of a button.”

To access these free classes, all you need to do is download the Better UK app via the App Store or Google Play, pick any Belfast leisure centre from the list, choose ‘virtual fitness classes’, pick a class, register for an account and enter the club access code BETTERFREE where indicated.
